1995 Jockey Club Thoroughbred Mare approved Premium Oldenburg Mare; Blood Bay – 16.2 hands; By It’s Always You out of Burt’s Reward (Northern Dancer lines).
Profile. Always Katelyn (“Katie”) was born on a thoroughbred breeding farm in Pennsylvania and raced at Philly Park with 10 starts and only one win. Too slow to race, she was sold as a flashy hunter prospect in Lancaster, PA. It was soon discovered that Katie had an old stifle injury that limited her abilities. In 2002, we purchased Katie as a broodmare prospect. Katie is the horse on the Farm that everyone is drawn to as “the most beautiful horse they have ever seen,” with her elegant head, stunning conformation and lovely movement. Katie has a big personality and deep voice. She is the first to call to you in the morning and evening and is as expressive as they come. Katie is all that is good about the passionate thoroughbred with none of the bad.
Katie was the star of her Oldenburg Inspection at Silverwood Farm in Lovettsville, Virginia in 2004. The Judge lauded her with praise and noted that she is “just the type of Thoroughbred mare that the warmblood registries seek.” Katie is a gorgeous large-bodied type, who when paired with a warmblood passes on a combination of elegance and substance. Katie achieved Premium Oldenburg status with a score of 106 at the 2004 Inspection (far exceeding the 98 required for Premium) and was ranked the 4th Premium mare in the Region for 2004.
