Profile. Farethewel (“Candi”) is Treveri’s 1999 daughter who fortunately inherited Treveri’s dam line traits as a solid producer and nurturing broodmare. Candi was featured on the Cover of the 2005 Equiery pictured above. This picture illustrates the tremendous connection and deep bond that Candi forms with her foals.
Candi was started under saddle as a 2 year old with German Dressage trainer Britta Johnston. After almost two years of training, Candi was excelling in the discipline. Unfortunately, a pasture injury to Candi’s fetlock cut short her budding dressage career. Candi was then inspected and received high scores putting her in the Hanoverian Main Studbook just short of Elite eligibility. Candi has three loose and balanced gaits. She has a truly gorgeous walk. She has a ground covering trot that is suitable for dressage or hunters, and an elegant, balanced canter.
Candi will be inspected Oldenburg this summer at Shepherd Farm’s on-site inspection.
Offspring. Farethewel has had beautiful offspring that are still young and growing in their disciplines.
- Farethewel’s 2005 colt, Wromanovna LS by ES Weltbekannt was sold as a two year old and is training first level.
- Farethewel’s 2006 daughter Noon Start LS by ES Nocturno was sadly euthanized as a foal following an illness.
- Farethewel’s 2008 daughter Marquis LS by Oldenburg Sempatico is a keeper. We expect to compete Marquis in dressage and then begin to breed her when she is 5 years old.
- Farethewel is in foal to ES Loerke for an early spring 2010 foal (filly we hope!).
