Shepherd Farm was named after our first German Shepherd dog Justie. She was a magnificent, intelligent and loyal girl. We are proud to say that Justie was one of our best friends in the world. Justie, named for Lady Justice, came into our lives in January 1998 as an 8 week old puppy. Over the 12 and 1/2 years that Justie was with us, she shared so many of the major milestones in our lives. She was part of the rhythm of each of our days. Justie aged gradually and gracefully, maturing from a lanky pup to a wise old lady with a grey muzzle and cloudy eyes. As the years passed, Justie went from bounding up the stairs and leaping on our bed, to walking up the stairs and using a ramp to make it onto the bed, to finally being carried up the stairs and gently placed on the bed. Justie’s love and beautiful energy grew stronger with each day that she was with us. The pictures below chronicle her journey from youth through her golden years.
